The Yamaha YU2X is a highly regarded, high-end upright piano (121 cm tall) from Yamaha's YU series, which blends modern technology with premium specifications.
1. Tone and Sound Quality: Clear, Full, and Projected
-
Front-Board Tone Escapement (Sound Ports): The YU2X features dedicated tone escape ports (similar to those found on the YU series and other high-end models), allowing the sound to be transmitted more directly and clearly to the player for enhanced spatial depth and detail.
-
Hand-Voicing and High-Quality Acoustic Tuning: Yamaha applies higher standards of voicing craftsmanship to the YU series. It delivers deep, stable bass, warm mid-ranges, and crisp, bright highs. It strikes a balance between the bright, lively nature of traditional Japanese pianos and a rich, full-bodied tone, making it ideal for daily practice, classical music, pop music, and graded examinations.
2. Touch and Structure: Grand-Piano-Like Refined Action
-
Extended Keys: Features relatively lengthened keys, providing a more uniform feedback force when playing near the back of the keys or executing complex techniques (such as rapid runs and legatos), which significantly improves touch sensitivity and comfort.
-
Grand-Piano-Style Sloped Fallboard: The key cover assembly adopts a sloped design similar to a grand piano. The sliding mechanism opens up the playing space, improving both visual aesthetics and the physical space while playing.
-
Durability and Craftsmanship: Rigorous material selection and construction ensure high structural stability. It demonstrates great resilience in adapting to environments with significant temperature and humidity fluctuations, such as Hong Kong.
